Timeline of Layshock v. Hermitage School District

Between Dec. 10 & 12 Justin created the profile of Principal Trosch.

By Dec. 12 - Three other students created profiles more vulgar and offensive.

Dec. 12 - Trosch learned about one of the other profiles and told co-principal and district superintendent; asked Technology Director to disable access from school, but his efforts failed.

Dec. 15- Trosch learned of Justin’s profile although not who had created it.

Dec. 15 - Justin accessed his profile from Spanish classroom computer and showed it to classmates.

Dec. 16 - Justin again tried to access profile from school, but seen by teacher and told to shut it down. Student access to computers limited by school officials till winter vacation.

Dec. 18 - Trosch learned of another profile and contacted police, but no action was taken.

Dec. 21 - School officials learned Justin might have created one of the profiles.

Jan. 3 - Justin received letter giving him notice of disciplinary hearing.

Justin found guilty on all charges: Disrespect; Vulgar language; and Computer Policy Violation.
